The condenser liquefies the steam coming out of the turbine and in this way enables a closed cycle.
The task of the recooling unit is to dissipate waste heat from the condenser to the environment
To this end, the cooling water is passed through cooling towers where the energy absorbed in the condensation process is extracted. The cooling water circulates in a closed cycle with a quantity of about 2,100 cubic metres per hour.
The circulating cooling water is oxidised by means of ozonisation to keep it free from organic pollutants (pollen, algae etc.).
Ozonisation is already used successfully in many installations to treat drinking water or to condition the water in public swimming pools.
Moreover, hardness stabilisers to bind free hardness components and sulphuric acid for decarbonisation are added to the recooling water.
